Psychology and Entertainment

Here is a speech given by Thelma Golden a Curator about “How Art gives shape to cultural change”. Now I know reading this most people will say how does that ties into what you want to do Ms. Burton? LETS CONVERSE!!!
I say that marketing/advertising has influence on our young adults and how it influences what they do in their life. Here is Ms. Golden explaining how arts “can change they way we think about culture and ourselves”. Golden open her speech stating that she wants to create a new narrative in history and new narrative in the world. Here she explains how many artists have affected others and how they feel about things. Even though she focuses on African American artist she applies this to all cultures that deals with art. She gives an example of Jay Jay from Good Times, and how he was know for saying dynamite. Golden express that not only was he know for that, but also for being the first African American artist on prime-time television. She also explains “the idea how powerful images can be in people and understanding of themselves and each other”. This not only applies to the arts, but also entertainers that are being seen on a daily base. Self-Image is important. People view entertainers and expect a lot from them.
“Muhammad Ali gave a speech and a student stood up and said give us a poem, Muhammad Ali said Me We.” Don’t only think of yourself when others view you as an important person. If you watched the video above she explains more in details that she created this place where people of all ages can express themselves through art. For my future business this is what I want to establish for aspiring adolescents and young adults entertainers to express them, and develop a positive self-image in the media.
